So New Year = New Reading List
Last year I committed to reading a book a month to reach my goal of 12 books at year end. I did fall behind but by October I was back on track and on December 12, 2017 I had finished my 12th book!
Even though it may not seem like a huge goal it was for me because I LOVE reading but somewhere down the road left it behind.
Whether you set a reading goal, enjoying reading or looking for something past time here are a few suggestions to get you started.
The Hate you Give by Angie Thomas: I am currently reading this book and WOW! It’s not an easy read but it is a projection of what is taking place, socially and politically. The emotions you feel and the way the book is written, it makes you feel like you are right there.
You are a Badass by Jen Sincero: My “first self-help” book and I was very much satisfied. Jen talks to you as if she’s a friend offering that good ol’ tough love advice for life.
I’m Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid: This book will really give you chills and get your mind racing with every flip of the page. If you are into thrillers, especially psychological ones this is for you. I had to read it twice to fully understand.
A Stolen Life by Jaycee Lee Dugard: A memoir of Jaycee who was abducted at a very young age and was held captive for 18 years. It really makes you think if there are many other missing children living among us and we don’t even know.
Whisky Words and a Shovel by R.H Sin: This poetry book is a quick but enjoyable read.
If you have read any of the books let me know what you think of them. If not let me know some of your favourites.
